we are sustainable

1, 2, 3… action!

At Kivir, we are proactive. We feel very connected to the society in which we operate, which is why we are becoming increasingly aware of sustainability and social well-being. Humans are responsible for much of what happens in our environment, so it is in our hands to help improve the world around us.

What are we doing?

We take part in various activities organised in the city, such as the Night Race in Seville, which we also organised in 2022 as a show of solidarity for the “warrior girls” on our team who fight every day to get ahead.

What are we doing?

We work with a wide range of local and international associations, such as the Seville Food Bank, Association Against Cancer, Polígono Sur Shelter and Vicente Ferrer Foundation, among others.

What are we doing?

We help distribute food, drinks and clothing to the Night Brigade for the homeless in the centre of Seville.

What are we doing?

Together with Ok Planet Sevilla and the Coca-Cola Foundation, we collect rubbish from the banks of the Guadalquivir River.

What are we doing?

Every Christmas, we organise the Royal Postman and Solidarity Lunch, so that all the boys and girls of the area can deliver their letters to the Three Wise Men, receive a gift and invite anyone who wants to share a hot drink and a pastry. Anyone who wishes can leave a donation, which is later used to make a large purchase for the Food Bank of Seville.

What are we doing?

Whenever we can, we contribute to the collection of essential products following natural disasters or specific needs, such as the earthquake in Turkey, the war in Ukraine, the volcano eruption in La Palma, etc.

What are we doing?

We support the local economy, use local or nearby suppliers, and focus on quality products that are, where possible, organic or guaranteed sustainable.

What are we doing?

We promote our policy of zero single-use plastics, which we have progressively introduced in each hotel, with the aim of eliminating them completely by 2023.

What are we doing?

We continuously recycle all the waste generated by our activities and we try to encourage our guests to do the same, by sorting the waste in the different three phase bins that can be found in the rooms and common areas.

What are we doing?

We inform our guests about the importance of using energy and water responsibly through a variety of signage, such as avoiding the constant changing of sheets and towels, controlling air conditioning in the room, and avoiding excessive water consumption.

What are we doing?

We promote the responsible use of paper, using electronic formats or recycled paper for close to 98% of our needs.

What are we doing?

We are replacing individually wrapped products with dispensers, which help reduce product waste and the unnecessary use of single-use plastics.

Kivir, efficient hotel with the highest energy rating: A

At Kivir, we are proud to be a highly efficient hotel thanks to the latest advances in energy efficiency and sustainability.

Why?

When performing the calculation for the energy performance certificate of a building, several parameters are evaluated. Labels A, B and C represent the most energy efficient buildings. Hotel Kivir has an A rating, which is the maximum efficiency that can be achieved and is the letter associated with the greenest buildings. So for a building to achieve an energy rating of A, it must have good thermal insulation, preventing heat and cold from entering, and airtight windows that allow light to pass through and prevent cold or heat from escaping.

1.

Achieving the highest energy rating, A, indicates that the building is of high construction quality, with minimum consumption and very low energy demand, which means that CO2 emissions into the atmosphere are reduced as much as possible.

2.

From a structural perspective, the best systems have been used to give the building better insulation, which prevents energy losses and therefore requires less energy to maintain a comfortable environment. Lower energy demand, lower consumption. The entire building is designed with a thermal envelope to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature with minimal use of air conditioning and heating. The aluminium windows are specially designed to achieve the highest levels of thermal and acoustic insulation.

3.

All installations have been designed to operate at peak efficiency. This ensures that the energy consumed is maximised. Heating and cooling air and water in buildings consumes a lot of energy, but at Kivir, this has been addressed with a geothermal systemthat uses water from a well at ground temperature to optimise heat exchange, making it much more efficient than conventional systems.

4.

Highly efficient renewable energy systems have been installed, contributing to lower energy consumption and greater environmental sustainability.

Sustainability Plan

Our team is fully committed to a sustainability plan that, together with the help of our sustainability consultants, is helping us to improve in this field.

This is why we like to say that we operate sustainably in the broadest sense of the word.

But what exactly do we mean by sustainability?

A clear commitment to environmental balance, social progress and economic growth without damaging natural resources.

But what exactly do we mean by sustainability?

Tourism is one of the most powerful economic drivers in our society, and we recognise that it is in our hands to make it as sustainable as possible.

But what exactly do we mean by sustainability?

Through our sustainability plan, we aim to focus on the environmental, governance and social aspects of our hotel, minimising the negative impacts that poorly managed tourism can have.

But what exactly do we mean by sustainability?

We are also committed to measuring our current carbon footprint in order to meet the challenge of reducing it every year.

But what exactly do we mean by sustainability?

We believe that if everyone does their bit, the world can be a much more sustainable and environmentally friendly place to live.
